The Sustainable Communities Fund incentivizes, leverages, and guides development of equitable Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in areas served by high capacity transit. The Fund was initially capitalized at $20 million thanks to Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) and Raza Development Fund (RDF). This initial $20 million investment helped make possible dozens of residential and commercial developments throughout the Valley Metro rail corridor. LISC and RDF have committed to investing another $20 million to catalyze TOD throughout the corridor and its extensions over the next few years.
The Fund provides the first financial incentives focused on changing the Valley’s development patterns through a new equitable TOD paradigm.
